CITADEL OF TRUTH

“This Conference, was organized amid the agonies of fervent prayer; is the result of toil, sacrifice, and tears. It is the monument of patience, hope, courage, and the living result of the venture of faith amid dark and forbidding environments. May it stand as a citadel of truth wherever its influence goes.” – H.H. Lowrey Founder 1904

HISTORICAL STATEMENT

LUMBER RIVER CONFERENCE OF THE HOLINESS METHODIST

On October 26, 1900 six preachers met at Union Chapel Church In Robeson County, North Carolina and the plan by John Wesley, was submitted to them and was In part heartily approved. There upon they organized the Holiness Methodist Church and adopted some articles of religion. They also enacted laws necessary for the government of the new church. Such was the origin of the Lumber River Conference of the Holiness Methodist Church. While its Polity and Rules may from time to time, be modified to meet changing conditions and opportunities, it remains unchanged in Doctrine. It teaches the Doctrine of Scriptural Holiness in full, without side issues.
