Cherokee Chapel’s 2013 Vacation Bible School started on Monday, June 17 and lasted through Friday, June 21. Our youth, as well as our adults, had a blast living in God’s Backyard. Each day at 6:00 pm VBS was started in the sanctuary with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Pledge to the Christian Flag, and also the Pledge to the Bible, followed by our youth at the altar performing the motions to our VBS theme song, “Go Serve Our World”. Monday through Thursday evenings each consisted of classroom lessons, crafts, sidewalk chalk art, playground time, games, and the evenings were concluded around 8:00 pm with dinner and fellowship. Friday evening was even more special when Cherokee held “God’s Backyard Bash”.

The whole congregation gathered outside the church with lawn chairs and blankets to recieve a sermonette from Brother David Emanuel. Afterwards an adult verses youth volleyball game was held, where the adults showed the youth that “old school” still had what it takes. Hot dogs were served for dinner and were followed by an extravagant ice cream bar. An extremely eventful and fun week served well with youth ready to serve famly, serve friends, serve neighbors, serve community, serve Jesus, and to always serve God with everything.
