Pembroke- In 2018 the overall point of emphasis for the congregation of Shoeheel Holiness Methodist Church (SHMC) has been evangelism. With this in mind members of the church along with some from our sister church New Bethel (NBHMC) thought that the annual “Lumbee Homecoming” would be an excellent opportunity to spread the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Under the direction of the Reverend Harold D. Jacobs, Director of musical programming at the church a float was designed as a parade entry. The featured riders were the Shoeheel brass ensemble- Ashton Oxendine (flute), Sequoia Hunt (baritone), Jacobs Chavis (trombone) and Justin Locklear (trumpet) playing for the on-lookers. Other participants rode and walked beside the float sharing the Gospel. A large banner was placed on each side of the float encouraging those who read it to Know Christ, to Grow in Christ and to Go Share Christ. The church is actively looking for the opportunity to spread the Word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ not just at parades but in our everyday lives.
