Hey, give me a minute
{xtypo_rounded1}“You will not see anyone who is truly striving after his spiritual advancement who is not given to spiritual reading.”
-St. Athanasius of Alexandria{/xtypo_rounded1}
{xtypo_dropcap}I{/xtypo_dropcap}t may not be clear to the casual observer but for those having a discerning spirit it is quite obvious that one of the greatest if not the greatest tool given to humans whereby they might walk in the footsteps of Christ is the Word of God. The Bible has been hailed as “holy” scripture by some, as a mere work of literature by others and still in the eyes of others it is simply viewed has as a tool of the church to downgrade, separate and demean. Yet there is no other book in human history that has been printed more. It has been advanced into more languages, versions and variety of formats than any other text worldwide.
Its precept has been used to form Governments, the United States in particular. Its commands have led men and women of the past and the present to establish Hospitals, Orphanages, College and Universities, Homeless Shelters and Soup Kitchens. Even those of today who decry it as worthless or useless in the 21St century would do well to study their history and recognize that the greatest movements in our history have been led by those who believed in the words found on its pages. One example of many is the Civil Rights of the 1950’s. The push for equal rights did not get support in the White House, the State House or the Court House until it was pushed and demanded from the Church House. We would do well to heed the advice of the Apostle Paul: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2Ti 2:15 KJV
Time’s up.
