Pembroke- It was an absolutely gorgeous day when over 50 members of the Lumber River Conference of the Holiness Methodist Church gathered at Berea Baptist church for their annual mission day march to the conference headquarters a mile away. After singing and prayer the group escorted by members of the Pembroke Police Department embarked on their journey at around 8:20 am. Once on the road some young energetic folk decided to run the one mile trek still others pushing baby strollers and strolling along made their way safely to their destination. This year the conference lay leaders chose three worthwhile charities that do outstanding work for our communities. They were St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Camp Graceand Hospice of Robeson County. Through the great giving of our churches each of these organizations received $1,316.66 to be used towards their service programs. A special thanks to all our conference lay leaders for all their tremendous work for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
