On February 27, 2011 New Bethel Holiness Methodist Church celebrated its monthly Class Sunday with some soul stirring preaching from the Reverend Oscar Henderson pastor of Mt. Carmel Holiness Church of Red Springs, N.C. and a member of the Lumber River Conference of the Holiness Methodist Church since 2000. He reminded the congregation that there was a time in the life of our churches that folks would stand, walk, sit and shout and sing praises to the God of our Salvation and that we needed “to return to our first love.” The Congregation was reminded of the long standing history of class Sunday and why it continues to be such a vital part of our church life. The Reverend Henderson who is now 77 years old shared some great wisdom and knowledge from is childhood, as well as, from his over forty years of pastoral experience.
