During Sunday School class Brother Mitch Harris taught us that we have all faced storms in our lives but how we react during these storms reveal who we really are. In Matthew’s bibliography of Jesus, he describes a gut-wrenching event in the midst of a raging sea where the disciples found themselves being tossed around by the waves like rag dolls. Matthew depicts that the event was so frightening to them that they thought they would die. As they fought to save their lives they noticed Jesus was astonishingly and peacefully asleep in the back of the ship.
Brother Mitch taught the class that it was evident that Jesus had no fear and the disciples feared for their lives. He stressed that, If they had believed and trusted in Him who created the wind and the sea, then the disciples could have been sleeping as well with their minds at ease knowing that Jesus was in full control.
Many times in our lives we choose fear over faith when we need to remember that even in the midst of our storms, Jesus is right there with us. Let us renew our minds daily and believe that no matter what storm comes our way that we can have peace through Jesus Christ. God has given Him authority over heaven and earth and He loves us so much that He died for us therefore know that He will see you through your storm.

“And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!”
