On March 26 and 27, 2016, Riverside embarked on a two-day celebration of Christ’s Resurrection. On Saturday, the church hosted an Easter Egg Hunt and cookout for our children and their parents. In all, approximately 30 children and 18 adults participated in this event. We had two separate hunt courses – an easier course for the preschool children and a difficult course for our older young people. Overall, more than 300 eggs were stuffed, hidden, and found. It was an excellent day full of fun, food, and fellowship.
The celebration continued on Sunday morning with our annual Sunrise Service and Breakfast. After Sunday School, it was time for our annual Easter Play. The play was entitled “I Loved You This Much” based on the Crabb Family song by the same name. This year’s play was unique in that it utilized all of the ministries of the church – the adult choir, the youth choir, the praise/worship team, the Youth For Christ, and the newly formed mime/drama team – not just the youth and children. The reason for this was to show Riverside united in ministry and purpose. Everything went well! The Lord was glorified and all in attendance were blessed. It was an excellent conclusion to a day of worship and praise for our Risen Savior!
“And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, ‘Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee” (Luke 24:5-6).
