Youth Sunday was held at Union Chapel Holiness Methodist Church on October 31, 2010. The theme for Youth Sunday was, Don’t Turn Your Back on Jesus. To show the sincerity of the theme, the kids and some adults wore their clothes backwards to church. The welcome and opening comments were given by Bronnie Scott followed by a prayer from Nick Oxendine. The teens presented a Power Point on Praise and Worship and were given a CD of their favorite Praise and Worship songs.
The Teen Choir sang, In Better Hands Now and performed a skit to the song Not Guilty by Mandisa. Bro. Calton Oxendine led Children’s pulpit and talked to the kids about running life’s race. He explained to them it wasn’t how fast they ran the race but how important it was to endure to the end. He also encouraged them to not be quitters.
The children sang Amazing Grace and a special song was sung by Jasmine Locklear. Bro. Daniel Jacobs delivered the message on the Prodigal Son. He encouraged us to welcome others back when they have fallen by the wayside and asked God for forgiveness. We are all sinners saved by Grace. We had a wonderful Youth Sunday. We look forward to the next one.
