{xtypo_dropcap}C{/xtypo_dropcap}herokee Chapel Holiness Methodist Church is planning a mission trip to Brazil this upcoming summer.

The purpose of the trip is to spread the Gospel of Jesus, to assist in the building of a Church and other activities to be determined at a later date.  The Brazilian people are excited about the Word of Christ.

Pastor Jimmy Locklear has been in contact with the Pastor of the Brazilian Church.  The Brazilian Minister will meet Preacher Jimmy Locklear at the airport in Brazil.

Pastor Jimmy Locklear is scheduled to depart Charlotte, NC, on 3/15/11 and return 1 week later.  He will be speaking at a Church Conference in Fortaleza, Brazil, on 3/19/11.  In addition to speaking at the Conference, the Pastor will also be laying the ground work for the mission trip this summer.

Cherokee Chapel Holiness Methodist Church has been raising monies for the trip since July, 2010.  The Church sold food at the Rennert Parade during 4th of July weekend, 2010.  Church members have been encouraged to give $5.00/mo for 12 months.

Our biggest fund raiser thus far has been the hoagies sale that was conducted on February 18th at Cherokee Chapel Holiness Methodist Church.  In excess of $2,300.00 was raised.

The monies are to be used to purchase material and supplies for the Brazilian people.

Bro. Rocky Locklear and Sis. Misty Godwin are coordinating all fund raising activites.

In addition to the supplies and material, 100 Bibles are to be bought and given to the Brazilian Church.

After the March trip, a presentation will be given to the Conference.  We are encouraging other churches to assist in this mission effort.
